About Nader Ardalan

In 2006, Nader accepted an invitation from Harvard University to dedicate a portion of his time as a Research Fellow at the Center for Middle East studies. This was motivated by the sense that there is an urgent need for applied research into innovative new development models based upon sustainable design principles and technologies for the rapidly developing built environments of the Persian Gulf. As a result of his organizational efforts, he will direct a three year research program entitled, “Re-Conceiving the Architecture of the Gulf Region”. The first academic year of 2006-2007 will be sponsored by the Kuwait Foundation for the Advancement of Science (KFAS) and the Ministry of Higher Education and Research of UAE.

The research fellowship will complement and coincide with the re-activation of Ardalan Associates, Inc. in Boston. This will allow a specialized, independent design consultancy practice to offer Ardalan’s research findings and his unique architectural experience and professional contacts to be shared with a broad range of clients. The potential benefits of this consultancy will be the explicit development of Iconic, energy-efficient, ecologically sensitive and culturally relevant built environments based upon new paradigms of design thinking for the 21st Century.
